What we don't do
Worth stating first, because it's most of the answer:
- We don't sell anything, so we never handle payment details.
- We don't have accounts or logins, so there's nothing to register.
- We don't sell, rent or trade personal data to anyone.
- We don't run display advertising or third-party ad networks.
- We don't operate a newsletter or mailing list.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. It sets cookies and collects standard web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site.
We also record an event when someone clicks a product link, so we know which recommendations are actually useful. That event records the merchant, the product identifier and the page it was clicked from — not anything identifying you.
This data is processed by Google. Their privacy policy covers what they do with it, and you can opt out site-wide using Google's browser opt-out add-on.
Affiliate links
Product links on this site are affiliate links — see our affiliate disclosure. Clicking one takes you through our own redirect and on to the retailer, and the retailer sets a cookie so any purchase you make can be attributed to us.
That cookie is set by the retailer, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policy. For Amazon, that's the Amazon Privacy Notice. We receive aggregate reporting on purchases — item, quantity, commission — and never your name, address or payment details.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, delivered to our inbox by email. We use that solely to reply to you and to act on what you've told us — for example correcting a page.
The form includes basic anti-spam measures: a hidden field that automated submissions tend to fill in, a check on how long the form was open, and a limit on submissions per IP address per hour. The IP address is held in memory only for that rate limit and is not stored.
We don't add contact form submissions to any mailing list.
Product images
Product photographs on this site are served directly from Amazon's content delivery network rather than copied onto our servers, which means your browser makes a request to Amazon when a product image loads. That's how the Amazon Associates program expects product imagery to be used.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. See the Vercel privacy policy.
Your choices
- Cookies can be blocked or cleared in your browser settings. The site works fine without them — nothing here requires a cookie to function.
- Analytics can be blocked with the Google opt-out add-on above, or with any standard content blocker.
- Do Not Track— we don't build behavioral profiles or run cross-site advertising, so there is nothing here for a DNT signal to switch off.
- Data requests.If you've emailed us or used the contact form and want that correspondence deleted, email info@pinandputt.comand we'll remove it.
Children
This site is intended for adults buying gifts and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
